Located alongside the Tennessee River, Muscle Shoals, Alabama has helped create some of the most important and resonant songs of all time. Overcoming crushing poverty and staggering tragedies, Rick Hall brought black and white together to create music for the generations. He is responsible for creating the "Muscle Shoals sound" and The Swampers, the house band at FAME Studios that eventually left to start its own successful studio known as Muscle Shoals Sound. Gregg Allman and others bear witness to Muscle Shoals' magnetism, mystery and why it remains influential today.

Holds Back Nothing - A Must See!

A look back at one of the most unique individuals in Rock history. Great archival footage and very well written. Surprisingly open account of a deeply personal rock genius. Fascinating!

Where the greatest music was brewed in an aw shucks environment

One of America's finest exports is its music. Even the French love it while sniffing at everything else we send their way. Well, they also love Jerry Lewis so that says nothing about their fine tastes, does it? Anyway, this documentary explores the recording center of the universe where much of the world's (born in America) coolest music was arranged and recorded. Think of it as the building where Coca Cola's secret sauce is cooked up. Muscle Shoals was that cool and the stuff that came from there blew the minds of every human on the planet. If you have an affection for genuine people, great musicians and memorable music, watch this.

If you think you know music, you need to watch this. It's quite an education.

I learned a lot and enjoyed doing it.

I never knew what Lynyrd Skynyrd was referencing when they sang about "Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers" until I got schooled by this documentary.

It's an uplifting look at how the music industry could potentially, and has in the past, shattered race division with truly talented artists sharing common ground in music. Well, that and much, much more.

A must see

Muscle Shoals offers a great insight into a troubling time in our history in which music brought people together.

Interesting documentary.

Some good music but too much mystical attribution to the town.
